Old School Rapper's that New Rapper's Should Look at!

     Today's rapper's are striving to be the best rapper's of this generation. Everyday there is a new song for fans to listen to and love. When you are trying to start a rapping career, its best you do research and learn. The best people to learn from is the old school rapper's! These rapper's came up and made the most iconic track's in their time! They went from nothing to something just to spread their art. Here are old school rappers you should look into!

Busta Rhymes 
     This man is a legend that never failed to entertain! Busta Rhymes started his career in 1989 founding a group called Leaders of The New School with Charlie Brown, Dinco D, and Cut Monitor Milo. At one point, he was working with A Tribe Called Quest. Which gained him recognition. In 1994, it was time he went solo and released his debut album " The Coming". Little did he know, it would skyrocket his career and earn him a grammy nomination! You may also know him for his verse in Chris Brown's hit song " Look at me now". He has many great collaborations with Janet Jackson, Pharrell, A tribe Called Quest, Coi Leray,  Mariah Carey, and more! He is still making hit's and shining today. He is a man to learn from and he gives props when its due. 

Dj Quik
      This man is an icon in many ways you could imagine. He is a producer and rapper that made many great hits. He's produced many songs for many artist you know today. Dj quik is an artist you should look at. This West Coast Legend officially started his career in 1990 signing to a label called Profile Records. Which, he later on regretted. Eazy-E gave a helping hand and offered 1 million dollars which Profile Records didn't take lightly. That didn't stop Quik from hustling hard because in 1991, he became a star. He released his debut album "Quik is The Name" which became very successful. His two singles in that album" Tonite" and "Born and Raised in Compton" was favored by many. His album became number 10 on album charts and earned platinum. Throughout his career he released good albums and singles like Way 2 Fonky, Safe + Sound, and Rhythm-al-ism and Beyond. Dj Quik has worked and produced music for artist like Suga Free, Shaquille O'Neal, Nate Dogg, Snoop Dogg, Deborah Cox, Jermaine Dupri, Chingy, and more! This man is underrated and deserves more recognition! This rapper is a legend in the West Coast and G-funk rap. Listen to his music and you will hear how catchy and amazing his sound is. You won't regret it and might be inspired!

Mc-Lyte
      Introducing the queen of New York rap, Mc-Lyte! This woman is a true legend and icon. Mc-Lyte started her career in the late 1980's becoming the first female rapper to release a solo album called " Lyfe as a Rock" in 1988. In 1989, she released " Cha Cha Cha" and it became her lead single in her second album" Eyes on This". Then came the 90's where she was releasing more and more hits. In 1991 her hit single Poor Georgie skyrocketed her career heavily. The single made it to Billboard Hot 100. Not only that, her single in the year 1993 Ruffneck got her the achievement of gold certification from the RIAA. In 1994,  she collabed with artists like Janet Jackson, Brandy, Queen Latifah, YoYo, Xscape, and more! Another hit single was "Keep on, Keepin on" with as stated above, the group Xscape. She later on was nominated for her successful music and many female rappers should look into her. She already inspires many today. 

Queen Latifah 
    You probably either knew she was a rapper or not but this woman is a genius. She started her career in 1989 at the age of 19. She released her album " All Hail the Queen" featuring the hit single "Ladies First". She then released her second album in 1991 " Nature of a Sista" produced by Tommy Boy Records. Then came 1993, where her career launched into greatness. Her third album " Black reign" released and became the first female rapper to get a gold certified album by the RIAA. It led onto her single U.N.I.T.Y., which was to spread awareness for women and African American women facing sexualization in a cruel way. She has collabed with many artists throughout many years like Mc-Lyte, Brandy, YoYo and more! She has been nominated with many awards ranging from Golden Globe, Grammy, and PrimeTime Emmy Awards. She also is an amazing actress who has been in many movies and sitcoms that earned her so many flowers. This woman is someone men and women should take inspiration from if they want to start their career in music and acting.

OutKast
      These two were a duo that made many hits together. Since 1992, these two helped make Southern Hip Hop become popular in the US. They took many hurdles to get where they have come. They explored many genre's like Funk, Psychedelia, Jazz, and Techno. In 1994 they released their debut album " Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik" and gained them popularity after their single " Players ball" which hit number one on Billboard Hot Rap Tracks chart. In 1996, their ATLiens Album tagged along with the success continuing their fame. From 1998 until the late 2000's, Outkast has got a lot of credit and mainstream success due to the different styles they've explored. Their albums and singles like Stankonia, Ms. Jackson, B.O.B, Hey Ya!, The Way you Move and many more has become the most played music at weddings, graduations, movies, birthday parties, and even all over the world. This duo created a pathway for the south when it came to Hip Hop. What made them inspiring was the way they were able to make many sounds out of many genres and create a hit. Their creativity made people move.

Mos Def 
    This man is unacceptably underrated and when you listen to his music, it will amaze you. His career started in 1994 with his sibling in the group called Urban Thermo Dynamics. He later on formed a duo called Black Star with rapper Talib Kweli. They both created their debut album "Mos Def & Talib Kweli are Black Star". He then went solo and released great creations like Black on Both Sides(1999), The New Danger(2004), True Magic(2006), and The Estatic(2009). His main hit's are The Panties, Oh No, Ms. Fat Booty, and mathematics. Many say that you would have to listen to his songs to get a good feel on who he is. If you are into very lyrical and melodic rapping, he is someone to look at. His sound is very underrated and he can really inspire you by his music.

     In conclusion, creativity is beautiful in many ways. The poetry these rapper's create can turn into something more then just successful. It's always good to learn and become inspired as a new rapper.
